Roadtrip 2014: Vancouver - Yakima - Boise - Provo - Flagstaff - Tucson - Palm Springs - Paso Robles - Sacramento - Eureka - Bandon - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 54 - Seaside to Vancouver

Our last day on the road! We wake up to a view of the winter storm clearing.

Clearing, but still a little spotty over Astoria.

Crossing the Columbia.

Emma struggles to understand our preoccupation with these little huts by the roadside.

The Original Kodak Moment. Really.

Nobody knows why this little hamlet needs such huge cooling towers. We are certain they are part of the army's top secret Project Global Cooling, which is going to bring an Ice Age to America's enemies.

But first the Ice Age cometh to America.

As we track north up the Hood Canal - the temperature is steadily dropping - and there is snow in these here parts!

Strange beauty at Dosewallips State Park.

The all-new US Forest Service wading picnic table, a legally required equal-access for amphibians.

The huge trees of the Olympic Peninsula show off their winter dress.

What happens when there is more Christmas Tree than car.

Wendy once again shows off her amazing rally driver skills in avoiding an even bigger catastrophe. Meanwhile, Russ provides all of the hysterical flailing and screaming.

Minutes later, the King of the Smurfs offers a holiday greeting from his Holiday Greeting Hut.

You absolutely know you're back in Vancouver when you cross Main and 49th and the store on the corner has yet one more enormous "closing out" sale.
